A Malaysian subsidiary has been established for the purpose of exporting and selling halal Wagyu beef.
MTJ (Headquarters: Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture) announced on May 22, 2024, the establishment of “Worldwide Wagyu Malaysia,” a group company in Cyberjaya, for the purpose of exporting and selling halal Wagyu beef. The aim is to build a full-fledged export and local sales system for Wagyu beef specifically for the Malaysian halal market.
Malaysia boasts the largest halal certification system in Southeast Asia and plays a gateway role to the global halal market. Halal Wagyu beef has the potential to cultivate a huge new market—wealthy Malays and Middle Eastern consumers—in addition to the traditional non-Muslim market. Demand for high-quality Japanese Wagyu beef is rapidly expanding, particularly in high-end restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, making halal-certified Wagyu beef overwhelmingly competitive.
Thus, a combined “export x market entry” strategy, combining the export of agricultural and marine products with the establishment of a local subsidiary, is one of the most effective approaches in the Malaysian market. Our organization provides comprehensive support for such strategies.
