Agricultural, forestry, and fishery product exports are projected to reach 1.7005 trillion yen in 2025, marking a new record high for the 13th consecutive year.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced that the value of agricultural, forestry, and fishery product and food exports in 2025 reached 1,700.5 billion yen, a significant increase of 12.8% year-on-year, marking the 13th consecutive year of record-high exports. This represents an increase of approximately 200 billion yen from the 1,507.3 billion yen exported in 2024, clearly accelerating towards the government’s 2030 target of 5 trillion yen.

By product category, representative Japanese agricultural, forestry, and fishery products such as Wagyu beef, scallops, yellowtail, green tea, and sake are all performing well. Demand expansion in Asia is particularly remarkable, with Malaysia ranking among the top 20 export destinations and increasing its presence as a core market in Southeast Asia. Diversification of fishery exports following the Chinese import ban is also steadily progressing, with a shift towards North America and Southeast Asia becoming established.

The global demand for Japanese brands is genuine. However, the vast majority of producers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are still unable to capitalize on this trend. Unsure of the supply chain, lack of access to buyers, or where to begin—our organization exists to transform that “unknown” into “known.” Let’s take the first step towards exporting together.
